The truth about my solo life: Angelina Jolie shares her thoughts on being single

During a recent interview, Angelina Jolie candidly discussed her life after her separation from Brad Pitt. Despite her usual strong demeanor, Jolie expressed that she has not been entirely comfortable with the promotional responsibilities for her latest film. She revealed that this was her first time in a long while, and admitted to feeling a bit shy and less internally strong than in previous years.

Jolie’s latest project, First They Killed My Father, is a Cambodian drama that she co-wrote, produced, and directed based on Loung Ung’s memoir of the Khmer Rouge genocide, which saw an estimated two million Cambodians killed in the 1970s. While working on the film, Jolie has also been dealing with her divorce from Brad Pitt. She admits that being single is not something she wanted and finds it difficult to cope with. She tries to pull it all together, but emotionally it has been a tough year for her, and she has had some health issues to deal with as well, which she has to monitor closely.

While working on the film, Jolie was accompanied by her children who provided her with much-needed support. Her son Maddox, whom she had adopted from Cambodia at the age of three months, also lent a helping hand with its production. Jolie was keen on educating Maddox about Cambodian history and felt that this movie would be an excellent opportunity for them to embark on this journey together. Maddox was deeply involved in researching and editing the film, and his presence proved to be beneficial as he was able to provide feedback on the film’s complexity and attention-grabbing elements.

She expresses her admiration for the children and their remarkable efforts in supporting one another and herself. After her promotion, Jolie looks forward to some relaxation time with her family in their new Los Angeles residence, an estate previously owned by the renowned Hollywood figure, Cecil B de Mille, which she acquired for $24.5 million.

She reflects on the changes in her life and acknowledges that she may have lost a part of herself along the way. Dealing with loss, health issues, and raising children has been a significant period of growth for her, but as her kids grow up, she realizes that her playful side has been dormant for too long. As a result, she plans to rediscover her sense of play and have more fun as her children hit their teenage years. She chuckles at the thought, saying that it might be time to go back to her old self.

The much-awaited release of First They Killed My Father is finally happening on Netflix this coming September 15th. Fans of the memoir-turned-movie adaptation can now look forward to watching it on the streaming platform very soon.
